Dr. Rick on Good Morning America
Such a great time appearing along side Ginger Zee on GMA. Honestly though the highlight was after I finished. I’m sitting in the make up chair about to get the mustache taken off and my agent pokes her head in and says “Leave it on! Robin Roberts wants a picture with you!” Great day, and great memories were made.
HOTONES!
Sean Evans and his team were beyond kind, and I had a blast on this one. People always ask me if the sauces were hot. Yes. The first two were not bad, but the last dab…..holy balls.
I put one dab on for the first take of the script. They didn’t change out the wing for the take I really went for it so I actually had a double dab on the last dab. That was no joke.
The Beginning
The title of this commercial is “pillows” While we had a blast making these first few commercials, none of knew the campaign would still be running today.
“Group Outing”
First time working with Mike Nelson “Keith” and Abra Tabak “Julie”. They both hit home runs on this one. Mike with his delivery of “Bluuueee”, and Abra with “I’m having a big lunch, and just a snack for dinner.”
“Plumbing”
First time working with Chris Witaske aka “Tom Pritchard” one on one. This dude is never not funny. He’s such a pleasure to work with. When he’s around my main job is just to not laugh. There’s so much stuff that’s funnier than the final spot that ends up on the cutting room floor.
“Live, Laugh, Love”
If I learned one thing from this commercial, it’s that people care about their signs. I had family members coming after me after this one. Of course they were laughing while they were doing it, so that made it worth it. Also, who doesn’t struggle with Quinoa? We’ve all been there.
“Airport”
Probably shouldn’t admit this, but this is my wife. We are always way too early at the airport. When my teenagers ask, “Why are we here so early.” I most certainly point at my wife. That being said, if you don’t hear from me for awhile it means my wife has found my website and you’ll never find the body. She watches “Dateline” and takes notes.
“Shopping Mall”.
Another one with Chris Witaske “Tom Pritchard”.
The office set was built in an empty store at the mall so the production wouldn’t have to move locations. Also, for the record I have never bought the same shirt. Ever. Just please don’t ask my wife about it. Ever.
Gameday
More Mike Nelson “Keith”. The way he just slides into this character is just ridiculous. We’re normally chatting all the way up until the slate comes in (The clappy thing they snap before calling action) and then when the director calls action he’s just off and running without missing a beat. Fun. To. Watch.
“Tailgate”
I don’t get recognized a lot, but when this one was running people would always say “That’s my Dad. He always parks near the exit!” This one even got a shout out on the Rich Eisen show. That was a fun day.
“Refrigerator, Not a Time Capsule”
This one hit particularly close to home. My parents had a fridge like this in their garage. Most of it iced and snowed over inside. They never parted with anything out there. Why? I have no idea. Also, when Mike threw scotch egg out there we both thought that’ll never make it in. We were wrong.
“Voicemail”
People always ask me, who plays “Julie”? Her name is Abra Tabak ladies and gentleman. One of the kindest, sweetest, and funniest New Yorkers I’ve ever met. Also, one of the consistent Home Run hitters in this campaign.
“Book Signing”
There was talk of doing a real book tour for a minute. Not sure what happened to that idea, would’ve been fun. “We don’t need a line monitor.”
“Elevator”
More “Tom Pritchard”. I wish I had pictures I could share with you of the chaos inside the elevator when it’s all of us actors, cameras, crew, and lights. This was most certainly not the day to be claustrophobic. This was another day of Chris just running with the ball and riffing. Everyone bursts out laughing as soon as they yell cut. The key is waiting until they yell cut.
“Social Media”
I love you guys, but this one spoke to me. The things we as humans think that other humans actually care about is ridiculous. Yes, I am guilty and lumped into this as well. You all know what your “47 pictures of “Dinner at Pams” is. Stop it.
Ordering Lunch.
Mike Nelson brought the “Keith”, and it was such a pleasure to meet and work with Carl McDowell. Dude was on “Ballers” @carldmcdowell on the gram.
De-Cluttering
This one hit close to home. My Grandmother had butter tubs in her cupboard to send us home with food after a visit. Matt Richards kept making me laugh with his crown molding. He’s also a phenomenal stand-up comedian. @mattwasfunny on IG. Also want to highlight Nicole Pettis who had the butter tubs, not only is she hilarious she is a ray of light on set. @nicolepettis on IG.
“Hosting”
Another one that hit a little too close to home. My Mom and Grandma were both super heavy food pushers. “Take some for later.” Oh boy. First time working with Emanuel Borria @mannywontborria and a pleasure to work with Valentina Garcia AGAIN. Another quality human and home run hitter. @valentinagarcia
Weather.
This is another one where it was just fun to watch Mike Nelson slide into character and go. Matt Richards was back and killing it. Also a shout out to Geoff Ross @geoffisfamous who has been on a couple of these and finally got a little more camera love on this one. He’s a funny dude despite spelling his name with a G.
